Does anyone know how to make the pin connections for Garmin GPS 12 to USB port?

I don't have an rs232 port to spare but I do have a USB port if I can use it

If you mean that you have a serial Garmin cable ATM & want to modify it, then I don't think that's possible. I think USB requires a little bit of client electronics & negotiation.

I have a garmin GPS 12. I have got a PC. I have got a USB port on my PC. I have got 2 coms ports. Coms '2' is for my mouse, and coms '1' is for my external modem. I have no more coms ports. I have not got a 9 pin d-type serial port to connect GPS to. However, My modem lead does have a fly-off lead coming out of it with a 9 pin D-type plug on the end, but the dam plug is not a socket, it's a plug and you can't plug into a plug.

I hope this explains what my problem is. I'm just not having a good day with it. How can I get my GPS and PC connected together?

Well, I'm not an expert, but unless you can buy a USB lead from Garmin these days, I think you just have to unplug your modem whilst you upload the waypoints to your GPS. Or buy a different mouse

Sorry,

Thanks for the info Stroller. I have opted to buy a ps2 mouse and fit a ps2 connector to plug it into. I have now got my GPS and PC working together. I tested it out with jumper leads and it works. I just making a lead for it now. This may help someone else. I am using an old broken mouse, and an old CB radio 4 pin mic plug to make my GPS lead. You have to modify the mic plug pins and drill a hole up the middle of the plug. The mouse lead already has the rs232 plug on it.

Don't you just love when a plan comes together! End of problem!

Thanks for your help mate!
