I'm geting back into soaring after an extended absence, so I'm not up on the current equipment.
I've heard about a high performance hangglider that has flaps to degrade the glide when landing. Can anyone supply me with the name(s) and/or manufacturer(s) on these wings and ideally point me to websites? Also, is anyone out there flying these things? Any feedback on peformance, handling, etc.?

Do you mean the ancient Sensor E or the new rigids such as Exxtasy and Atos? For latter, see OZ report link on my sig URL. Probably Millenium rigid has flaps and findable from HG server link...

I guess the Mill has no flaps, but can 'snowplow' the tip rudders to act as spoiler/divebrakes?

The exxtacy, 17.5 to 1 (claimed) 150fpm sink (A lot better sink than my old magic 4 anyway) can be flown at 60+ mph (But your eyes water like buggery) Lands at next to nothing with the flaps on, these also pull the glide down to 5 to 1 (Claimed) lands like an old Gyr.
Very easy to fly, expensive and heavy. do a serch for exxtacy and you should find it.
regards RoyG (Get your local Exx dealer to give you a test flight< it'll be worth your

While I already mentioned where to look up the Exx, I don't think the significance of the Atos has reached this relatively quiet corner of the internet. Barely used Exx's are being dumped on the market since so many are upgrading to the Atos, which is supposed to be a huge leapfrog of performance by the same designer striking back from a different company (incl Icaro?).
More extreme aspect ratio, various refinements, possibly not proven yet, possibly higher price. Such details don't stick to my memory which is more receptive to paraglider lore, so go consult the very active HG parts of the web for the story...

You can consult the Ridgid Wings Website at <globalserve.net/~midtoad/RigidWings/>, or Flight Design (for the Exxtacy and Millenium), at <fun2fly.com/ftdes.htm>, or AIR for the Atos at <a-i-r.de/Homepage;htm>. If you have flown HG already, the conversion to an Exxtacy is practically immediate, as the retailers are happy to train you. I have one since last May, and I really think that it is a 'grandfather's' wing: - incredible take off - power steering as standard - lands like intermediates 10 years ago - very easy high performance The drawbacks are the weight, although a modified good golf caddy can help a lot (as well as your friendly fellow pilots), and last, but not least at all, the price!!!
