Looking for comments on a comparison of the Lowrance Global Map 100 GPS ($419) and the Garmin GPS III+
interested in worldwide use for hang gliding, especially in US, UK, and Europe.
Any specific info you might have on maps, local grid coordinates, etc. would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi Cragin
I have the Garmin GPSIII+ but have not yet used it in anger. You should remember that although the map data for this instrument is excellent for use in the US it is not that detailed for Europe. There is a new CD that is out for upload to it but it is still not as detailed as the built in maps for the US. That may change over time of course.
All the best Peter

Hi !
I have a Garmin III, and I enjoy it... but...
On the GIII Map, there are no mountains, so in flight, you can't locate... you have to make your own map (I'm stll making it for Switzerland) with mountains, interesting for flight points, for exemple with MacGPS, by clicking points on a digital map. And linking your GPS (anyone...) with a Flytec 3030 or a Brauniger IQ-Comp-GPS, you will accurate your style of flight.
Best regards.
