Is anybody still flying Mt. Greylock in Western Mass.? I grew up there and when I was a kid it was a treat to see them flying over to North Adams. Also nearby is Hariman/West Airport, which did allot of towing though then for sailplanes.

Also, is there a good website which lists the flying spots for the North East AND the restrictions or legal rigamarole attached?

There are four flying(HG and PG) clubs in New England. Western Mass HG club has about 20 members and control Mt Graylock. Connecticut has a HG club and Vermont HG club has the largest number of HG and PG pilots. The NE Paragliding and Hang Gliding club is growing fast - check out their web site at www.neparagliding.org they have some great site info available.

We have had some great flying off Mt. Graylock this season. HG's have gone 50 miles and PG's have gone 14. Welcome back to NE!!!!

Dear John:

Thanks for the info! My mom still lives at the base of Greylock (My old high school is probably STILL an LZ, it used to be an airfield).

I don't know if you want to comment in a public forum, but there seems to be some imposed 'tension' at the Greylock site between the old HG crowd and the PG's. Comments on this even showed up in the mags. I have ZERO desire to join a club (or pay dues, for that matter) where there is some ego b.s. going down. What's the skinny?
