Paragliding with a video camera?

Hey folks,

A friend of mine has offered to lend me a video camera. I'd be hoping to take some in flight footage. As far as I can make out, it's a fairly small and light affair, and I'd really ratther like it to be helmet mounted.

Anyone have any hints on helmet mounting video cameras? I'd like something *really* secure, because it's one item I'd rather not have to worry about in flight. I believe the camera has all the standard mounting attachments normally used for tripods.

My only other concern is that of lines getting caught on the thing during launch. Oh yeah ... and in the event of me stuffing it into the deck, I'll be paying him for the cost of a new one. However anything violent enough to stuff the camera is probably also likely to injure me, so I suppose all the normal 'don't be an idiot and crash' provisions apply.

When helmet mounting a video camera, please bear in mind that when flying, you normally look around a lot (especially if you fly in busy conditions). If you don't want the people who watch you video get sick, you need to look around smoothly and slowly - obviously if you are flying in traffic the results will be vom-inducing.

Actually ... that's an excellent point, I noticed last sunday that I was constantly looking up, down, left, right and generally getting stressed in traffic.

The only time when I wasn't looking around so much was when high, and not in proximity to any other gliders.
