It's nice when you fly often, you don't have to buy batteries
But when you fly rarely, a backup power turns on often and a lithium battery is being used. It also turns on when you fly after sundown, but then you can't even see the display, I've checked that myself
My vario has 3 altimeters (one auto-zeroing), thermometer, speedometer (but no speed probe), flight timer turns on automatically (difference +/- 15 m), memory for 100 flights, adjustable beeper etc. Check out
