i intend to spend a week learning and am willing to travel. is there a particular area of the uk that is best in terms of hills and weather etc or does it not really matter?

A week? You'll be VERY lucky to get good weather for a week! Although you might only need 6-10 days to train it's mor elikely to take months, not weeks, to get through the EPC and CPC courses. Some people take years. Don't give up, whatever you do, it's well worth it in the end.

do the basics in the uk and then finish off abroad, contact the BHPA for schools who do this
