£34000 surplus and more members. (UK Troll Post)

£34000 surplus and more members. Perhaps someone should have put a bid in for them?
Terrific performance by the association under a great stewardship. Hope it continues to prosper and offer a good service to its members.
Wonder how the cooncil or cooperative or whatever it is now is getting on?
Anyway if you should fancy attending the Annual General Meeting 2018 it is to be held at the Belfrey Hotel, NOTTINGHAM, NG8 6PY on the 17 of February at 11.00.

Ref: £34000 surplus and more members.

These days despite the continuing injuries & deaths, including among students 'under instruction' this UK business has seen a slight increase in the recent years total membership, of course their profits get a significant boot from the surcharge to 'new members'.... further it should be noted that by their own information their membership 'turnover' is about 30%.... and also by their own statements the long term trend is that 80% of their new members will leave the sport within five years.... it is quite common for 'pilots' to remain PAID members for a year or so after they have effectively ceased flying, either totally (or just on a couple of days per year...)

Another significant point to factor in when reading 'promotion' from the Troll 'Guest111' is while it is generally accepted that the modern paragliders and associated equipment is 'safer' than they were in the past this associations accident, injury & death rates (Rate of said accident/deaths against number of members) is in fact HIGHER most years that was seen 20+ years ago (NB current membership numbers are still significantly lower than at the pear of popularity of the sport in the UK, number of deaths / injuries is often similar or even higher than the 90's...)

Anyone buying them and their inherent liabilities would be in my opinion a 'poisoned chalice' the 'Class Action' risks of taking over a business with their safety (and legal) track record would be an interesting situation, however as their liabilities are shared across the whole of their membership (EVERY member takes on a share of the liability debt for the illegal actions/consequences of ANY other member... See 'Dunstable Down' court case! in practical terms I doubt the core business could be legally sold... (it's owned equally be every member)

IF 'terrific performance' is referring simply to the £££££££ side of a association and it's group of businesses with a combined annual turnover running into millions... yes clearly they are very profitable! IF TP and 'stewardship' is meant to suggest they are good for SAFETY.... well a LOT of dead or seriously injured pilots/students families clearly are NOT likely to agree with the Troll 'Guest111'..................

Hope it continues to prosper and offer a good service to its members.

Mmmm would ANY court regard the injury/death rates and VERY high membership turnover AND numerous promotion of Illegal (in UK Law) Practices "offer a good service"??????????

Ref: Anyway if you should fancy attending the Annual General Meeting 2018.....

[b]In most recent year the 'attendance' of this "more members" association has seen the AGM numbers such that the various 'elected officers' significantly out number the 'ordinary members'... the long term chairman describes his hobby as "running the association", he further went on to comment that he "only fly's about four days a year...."

Murray Hay two+ decades of providing RE-training to those injured by the Trolls association as well as legal assistance to those injured/bereaved by that 'training' in addition to being consulted by the LEGAL Aviation bodies regarding association illegal practices...
