I'd like to hear comments, both pro and con, on the Edel Saber paraglider. (I'm thinking of buying a used one.) I'm especially interested in its stability in rough air; and if there have been any changes in the model to improve its stability. I'd also welcome comments on other intermediate class gliders.

Thanks very much,

Bill

Especially from the used point of view, I like the Edel gliders use of kevlar lines which don't change length. Many other companies use spectra for at least the upper spreaders, which slightly changes length which distorts the airfoil.

All my Edel and I think ITV gliders kept a crisp feel due to their full kevlar. All kinds of others with spectra soon developed a spongy, vague feel... usually pitched up as the rear lines became relatively (measurably) shorter than the front.

This is especially noticable to me due to my great weight - they don't scale up either the thickness or number of lines from the very smallest model. But spectra owners are supposed to stretch out their lines periodically, which seems to me a ridiculously tedious and inexact process.

Spectra isn't as brittle as kevlar, but if you want shock absorbtion I would rather see it in lower risers where it won't distort airfoil shape. Supposedly there are new line formulas that combine the best qualities of spectra and kevlar coming online.

yes I m flying saber since 6 months in India . It immediatly comes on over head even in nill wind , its reaction time is very fast n hence need to keep it pressurised . beginners need to fly not at the full speed initially , but if u r used to it its a great wing .happy flying !
